Ghandapadi Utsavam for Swami Desikan was celebrated at Srirangapatnam on the 5th of November 2011. HH Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakaala Swami was present during this utsavam which was also attended by thousands of people from Mysore and Bangalore locality.

The Ghandapadi Utsavam was started 76 years ago by Vadyar Swatchandam Krishna Iyengar when he started the Sri Vedanta Deshika Sabha at Srirangapatna. Devotees are still privileged to witness the Ghandapadi Utsavam every year. It started as a kind of medication to the society, when the Srirangapatna was struck with a devastating disease ‘Plague’, the sandalwood paste which will be served as prasadam was the effective medication to prevent from that disease. As a mark of success it is in progress till Now.
About the temple
The temple is the abode of Lord Vishnu as Sri Ranganatha swamy. The lord is resting on adhi sesha here and the temple is on kaveri banks. The temple has a big gopuram and huge walls surrounding it depicting ancient architecture.

Srirangapatna is on the Bangalore –Mysore State Highway. It is closer to Mysore at just 13 kms while it is 125 kms from Bangalore.
