Special Theerthavari for Tirumala Sri Venkateswara at Srirangam

Today morning (August 25, 2012), special Theerthavari for the divyamangala vigrahams of Sri Srinivasa Perumal, Sri Bhoodevi and Sri Sridevi from Sri Venkateswara Thirukkoil at Tirumala was performed at River Cauvery in Amma mandapam, Srirangam.

The theerthavari is the first-of-its-kind to be performed in River Cauvery. It took place for about one-and-a-half hours from 0730 hrs. The ritual is a special feature of the three-day ‘Sri Venkata Prasannam Booloka Vaikunta Saptha Prahara Pradakakshana Vaibhavam’ being organised under the ‘Dasa Sahitya Project’ of Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams.

The vigrahams arrived at Sringeri Mutt last evening where the public were allowed to have darshan. Suprapatham,’ ‘bhajan’ and discourse would be held at the Mutt today. In the forenoon, a discourse would be delivered by Sri Anantha Theerthachariar, special officer for the project. In the afternoon,  ‘divya nama sankeerthana pradakshnam’ and dance by devotees would be performed at Ranga Ranga Prakaram at the Uthira Street followed by ‘Ekantha sevai’ and ‘oonjal sevai.’

Tomorrow, devotees would take up ‘Sapthaprakara Pradakshanam’ at 0430 hrs from the Rajagopuram of Shri Ranganathaswamy Temple and a special ‘yaga’ called ‘Purushothama Yaga’ and ‘Laksha Pushparchanai’ would be performed from 1000 hrs 1300 hrs.
