The three-day annual Salakatla Vasanthotsavam which marks the celebration of the arrival of spring season off to a colourful start in Tirumala on 23rd april 2013 Tuesday.
The festival is celebrated on the three days sukla paksha trayodasi , chaturdasi and pournami in the month of Chaitra.
During the first day celebrations, the processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy along with his two Consorts, Sri Devi and Bhudevi went on a procession along the four mada streets before they were brought to the finely decorated Vasantha Mandapam where Snapana Thirumanjanam (Holy bath) has been performed between 2pm to 4pm.
Vasantha Mandapam is decorated in a aesthetic way giving a natural forest look by TTD. The entire mandapam has been arranged with Cuscus with an aim to give a chill thrill to the deities who will be taking the celestial sandal bath on these three days.
