Vijaya varusha Navarathri Mahotsavam commenced at Sree Tirumalagiri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, JP Nagar, Bangalore, on October 5th and will continue to take place till October 14th, 2013. On the first day, Punyavajanam and opening of Kannadi Mantapa (Mirror Room) took place well. The first three days of the utsavam (between October 5th and 7th) was celebrated with special alankaram/puja; Prakarotsavam and Unjalotsavam in the evening. This was followed by Sangeethotsavam.
The daily schedule during the utsavam includes special alankaram/puja; Prakarotsavam and Unjalotsavam at 6:30 pm; and daily music feast – Sangeethotsavam at 7:30 pm. On October 13, 2013, Srivaru Mahabhishekam will be performed at 5:30 am on the occasion of Sri Venkatesha Jayanthi. On October 14, 2013, special Raja Alankaram is planned to Lord Venkateshwara on Vijayadashami at 6:30 pm followed by Thiruveedhi purappadu (procession) on Kudhirai Vahanam.

About the temple:
Sree Tirumalagiri Lakshmi Venkateshwara Swamy Devasthanam is dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara (Lord Balaji) and situated in the residential area of JP Nagar 2nd Phase, Bangalore (Bengaluru). The temple was inaugurated (ShilaNyasa)  on 29 December 1996 by Sri Rangapriya Swamigal. Since then on average, 15 cows are taken care at the temple at any time.
Every Saturday, from Sravana Masam onwards starting in 2011, Anna Dhanam is being carried out on weekly basis, in addition to Nithya prasadam to all the devotees visiting the temple. In Sravana Maasam every year, Thirupavadai Sevai with a grand scale of Anna Dhanam is conducted at the temple. On Vaikunta Ekadasi day, special laddus are made at the temple and distributed to all the bhaktas. The Divya Prabandha Goshti conducts Nithya Parayanam (Daily prayers) at the temple and additional special parayanam is rendered during important dates. Also, during Dhanur Masam, special Upanyasam on Thiruppava is rendered for 30 days. Prathishtapana Mahotsavam was performed in February 2013 with special 3 days homam and various initiation ceremony. All the vahanams including Garuda Vahanam, Hanumantha Vahanam, Gaja Vahanam (Elephant), Sesha Vahanam (Aadhi Seshan), Haya (Horse) and Thiru Ther (chariot) are already in-progress/ready and a week long Brahmotsavam is planned from 2014 onwards.
There is an interesting history behind Sri Venkateshwara Swamy sannadhi (Sanctum Sanctorum). The original plan was to build the temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy. However, with divine turn of events, the temple became dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. In addition, the size of the vigraham originally planned was 8 feet including the base. However, it ended up in 13 feet with original sanctum sanctorum entrance and height sized for 8 feet vigraham. Eventually after few days of effort, on June 16, 1998, the current vigraham finally stood up at current position and all the necessary poojas (Kramam) were performed as per pancharaatra agama kramam. On the 48th day of the event, Vimanam was installed.
Daily (Nithya) Kalyana Utsavam is being carried out for the past 15 years. Only one sponsorer is allowed per day for the event. On Vaishaka Suddha Dasami and January 1st, Srinivasa Kalyana Mahotsavam is conducted allowing all to participate in this special Samoohika Kalyana Utsavam. On Vijaya Dasami day, special Raja Alankaram  is performed similar to Melkote. It is said that when Melkote was under Mysore dynasty, the king used to seek darshan of Melkote Sri Sampth Kumaran Swamy on this day.
