Today April 23, 2014; Jaya Chitrai Sravanam, is Day 5 of NamPerumal’s Chitra Ther Thirunal at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. At 5.15a.m. NamPerumal left vahana mandapam in purappadu on Sesha vahanam. NamPerumal on Seshavahanam moved speedily . Many a devotee missed His darshan at their usual spots and ran to catch up at another spot. The huge Sesha Peetam rested on the golden astadiggajams (eight elephants ,only one elephant holds its trunk upwards) which stood on a huge tortoise of gold.On the peetam was a golden prabhai and the five hoods of Sesha adorned with flowers formed an umbrella of sorts. To protect Sesha from the heat was NamPerumal’s golden umbrella. In between Sesha and the prabhai was Garudazhwar with folded palms. And in the middle of the amazing vahanam stood NamPerumal sporting a lavendar coloured kabhai(gown like dress) with yellow border sporting a kasu malai and a long chain with a half moon pendant. The flower garland coloured red, green yellow white along with a white garland of jasmines ,crown of pearls and abhaya hastham was pleasing to the eyes as the procession moved along the Chitra veedhis making everyone coming on the way happy. To be even a dog or in SriRangam is a blessing for the kataksham of Ranganatha falls on it.Today Nam Perumal will be in Pattunulkarar Asthana mandapam from where He will leave in purappadu on Hanumantha vahanam at 6 pm.
The following are some of the photographs taken during the purappadu…
