Yesterday, 24 April 2014, Jaya Chitrai Avittam; was Day-6 of NamPerumal’s Viruppan Tirunal. After being in Nagapapillai Asthana Mandapam for the day Nam Perumal left in Purappadu on Tholukuiniyan at 6.00p.m. to reach Yanai vahana mandapam by 6.45p.m. The mandapam for Yanai vahanam is at a considerable height and is a high platform adjacent to Ul Andal Sannidhi. As Purappadu on Chitra veedhis was not possible, at 7.45 p.m. the deerskin was hit on the ground cautioning people to be alert. The red velvet umbrella and two chamarams were brought from the “karu ul”(store room )and taken up to the yanai vahana mandapam. The crowds were swelling every minute as devotees from Chitra Veedhis and others rushed to the mandapam on learning that there would be no Veedhi Purappadu. The men holding the lit torches led followed by the Arulicheyal goshti reciting verses from Divya Prabhandham. Bhattar Swami was seated on the vahanam holding NamPerumal firmly yet gently. Another swami wearing white silken pavadai like dress held the umbrella above NamPerumal and the Purappadu commenced. Veda parayana goshti followed. After making a pradakshinam of Tiruvahndi kaapu mandapam to the accompaniment of a particular drum note NamPerumal was brought to theTiruvehndi kaapu mandapam where Bhattar Swami offered Ghata Harathi seated. Then the vahanam was brought to yanai vahana mandapam and every one was relieved that NamPerumal was safe.Though He is the Protector the devotee worries about His safety and sings Pallandu. Every Yanai vahanam day NamPerumal exchanges garlands with Andal usually at Ul Andal Sannidhi.

Why was the Chitra Veedhi purappadu not possible?
Purappadu could not take place on the Chitra Veedhis as there was a death in the street.
*every one was relieved that NamPerumal was safe* why such a sentence was written. What happened in terms of bhagavan’s safety? Please
NamPerumal was totally safe .just anxiety like a mother who worries about her children, this is a case of the bhakthas anxiety for Bhaghavan.
