As part of the ongoing Brahmotsavam at Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple, Tirupathi, today, June 12, 2014; Jaya Varusha Vaikasi Anusham, Day 9 of the utsavam is being celebrated in a grand manner. Sri Govindaraja Perumal alongwith the Ubhaya Nachiyars had purappdu in a grand pallakku along with Chakratazhwar for Theerthavari in the Pushkarni this morning. Last evening, purappadu for Perumal took place on Kudhirai Vahanam. There was ethir sevai for Sri Pundarikavalli Thayar and Sri Govindaraja Perumal in the evening.

The annual Brahmotsavams at Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple, Tirupathi, commenced on June 3, 2014 with Ankurarpanam. Yesterday, Viswaksenar had thiruveedhi purappadu followed by special pujas in Yagashala. On June 4, 2014; Jaya Varusha Vikasi Ayilyam, Dhwajarohanam took place in Karkata Lagnam between 9am to 10am. Garuda Kodi was hoisted atop the Dwajasthambam amid chanting of Vedas. In the evening, Pedda Sesha Vahana purappdu took place between 7.30pm to 9.30pm. On Day 2, Chinna Sesha Vahana purappadu took place in the morning while Perumal gave darsanam on Hamsa Vahanam. On Day 7, Perumal had purappdu on Surya Prabha in the morning and Chandra Prabha in the evening. On the previous day, being Day 6 of the utsavam, Perumal had purappadu on Hanumantha Vahanam and Gaja Vahanam in the morning and evening respectively. On Day 5, Sri Govindaraja Swamy gave darsanam to His devotees in the mesmerising Mohini Alankaram and Garuda Sevai.

On Day 8 of the utsavam, Sri Govindaraja Perumal alongwith the Ubhaya Nachiyars had purappdu in a grand Thiruther early this morning. Thiruther malai mariyadai was done for HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar of Tirumala Mutt. Being Namazhwar Thirunakshatram, Perumal and Thayars had thirumanjanam along with Swami Namazhwar followed by the Satrumurai.

HH Sri Pedda Jeeyar of Tirumala Mutt, HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar are presiding over the utsavam.

The 9-day Brahmotsavam will take place between June 4th to 12th. Usually the annual brahmotsavams are performed in the holy month of Vaisakha and Rathotsavam happens to be the most interesting event as it covers over 2km through the main streets of Tirupati encircling the temple. Thousands and thousands of pilgrims and local devotees takes part in this age old event.
