General guidelines for healthier food – Both body and mind:
- One should be thinking about Perumal (Nama Smaranam) while cooking, and the purpose should be to offer the preparation to Him.
- Once the food is prepared, it should be offered to Perumal first. While offering, one should make sure that the food is neither too hot nor cold. It should be offered with love and affection.
- Please do not offer either pre-cooked food bought from outside or any pre-consumed food.
- Please follow thiruvaradanam kramam as instructed by your respective acharya. (http://anudinam.org/2012/03/08/bhagavad-tiruvaradhanam/)
- Follow ahara niyamam as much as possible. Atleast make sure that onion and garlic are not used at all.(http://anudinam.org/2012/06/11/srivaishnava-ahara-niyamam/)
- Please ensure that food which are not prasadams are not consumed.
Nice recipe for Navaratri. By the way, can I take the liberty of requesting you to load photos of Navaratri Kolu at Srirangam temple put up for the first time this year ?
Thanks.
Would love to do it but we are travelling and will reach SriRangam after Navarathri.

Yes Hayagreeva Pandi, Bandi or simply Hayagreeva are other names for the same dish.
There is an anecdote that once SwamiDesikan , while on yathra, was not able to offer naivedyam to Hayagreeva idol he wa having. At night, a white horse had grazed the whole grams at te field of the farmer at whose house the Swami stayed, and the farmer complained. Swami realized that it was the leela. Of Hayagreevaa himself..but the proceeds of grams was tenfold that year. Lord Hayagreeva’s favourite one. Hayagreeva Pandi or thirukkannal amudu is an apt naivedyam toLord.
Yes Swami Desikan requested for milk at the house and offered it to Sri Hayagreeva and the white horse left the gram field.
