17/9/2015 was the 3rd day of Thoopul Swami Desikan’s Manmatha varusha Tirunakshatram. At about 7.30 a.m. there was frentic activity on our South Mada Veedhi. As soon as the two umbrellas were sighted women got busy sprinkling water and making kolams to receive “Thoopul-Pillai” who was coming in a palanquin of gold dressed in all finery with a flute in hand. Murali Krishna was the alankaram and swami holding up the flute looked exactly like Krishna and one felt like reciting ‘Gopala Vimsathi’. As we prostrated and made our fruit offerings we could not stop enjoying swami’s soundaryam and many of us followed the procession to the mandapam where Swami stopped for sometime and listened to the Vedic notes of the wonderful Veda Parayana goshti. Thaligai was offered and we all got Theertham, Srisathari and sundal/boondi prasadam.Swami then visited Chettyn theru and sannidhi theru before returning home. After reaching Thoopul Tirumanjanam took place followed by vishesha satrumurai and theertham, srisathari and prasada viniyogam(chitra annam and mysore-pak”. Vishesha thadeearadhanai takes place on all days of the utsavam.
