Dhavanotsavam commenced in a grand manner at Thiruvallur Sri Veeraraghava Perumal Temple. On March 18th 2016, Sri Perumal along with His Consorts and Sri Thayar had beautiful alangaram and Dhavanotsavam was performed followed by Ul Purappadu. Grand satrumurai and sevakalam took place with arulicheyal and veda parayana ghosti. Many devotees participated in the Dhavanotsavam and received the blessings of Divyadampathis. Dhavanam is a fragrant herb which is good for health if we smell it. Dhavana Utsavam means Sri Perumal adorned with Dhavana Maalai and goes for Thiruveethi Purappadu. So in the Tamil months of Maasi/Panguni we have ‘Dhavana utsavams’ at temples.
