Dhavanotsavam Commenced in a grand manner at Thiruvallikeni Sri ThelliyaSingar. On March 26th 2016, in the morning Sri Perumal with His Ubhaya Nachiyars started their Purappadu from temple to Dhavana Mandapam and Dhavanotsavam was performed. Later in the evening Sri Perumal with His Ubhaya Nachiyars had Purappadu back to temple followed by asthanam. Grand satrumurai and sevakalam took place with arulicheyal and veda parayana ghosti. Many devotees participated in the Utsavam and received the blessings of Divyadampathis.
Dhavanam is a fragrant herb which is good for health if we smell it. Dhavana Utsavam means Sri Perumal adorned with Dhavana Maalai and goes for Thiruveethi Purappadu. So in the Tamil months of Maasi/Panguni we have ‘Dhavana utsavams’ at temples.
