Durmukhi Chitrai Chitra (21st April 2016) Madurakaviazhwar’s Tirunakshatram was celebrated with devoutedness at Kachi Varadaraja Perumal koil. At about 5.30 p.m. Perumal and His Consorts went in purappadu on sannidhi street and on returning went to Nammazhwar sannidhi, the first sannidhi in azhwar praakaram. Outside Nammazhwar sannidhi, Nammazhwar along with Madurakaviazhwar and swami Nathamunigal waited to receive ‘Deva Perumal’.
After the chanting of Divya prabhandham and The Vedams, The Trio moved to a side and gave way for Perumal to go in. They followed Him and then after the thaniyans were said ‘kanninum siru thambu ‘ recital started. Madurakaviazhwar has sung only 11 pasurams out of the 4000 yet attained the status of an azhwar. He occupies pride of place in our sampradhaya as he has proved that an acharya is equal to Perumal. It is because of these pasurams that swami Nathamunigal retrieved the Divine Four Thousand. Varadaraja Perumal makes sure He is present for every azhwar/acharya tirunakshatram. After sattrumurai Perumal got ready to leave for Chitra Pournami nadabhaavi utsavam which will take place tomorrow. Perumal with Ubhaya nachimars left in maina-pallaku fully covered with shawls at about 10.00p.m.
