Durmukhi Aadi Sravanam (July 21st 2016) was celebrated with fervour and devotion at Thoopul divyadesam. Swami Desikan came in purappadu to Varadaraja Perumal koil and blessed the residents of Sannidhi Street and the Mada veedhis at about 8.30a.m. It is a great feeling to behold the Beauty of Swami Desikan in sunlight accompanied by the Vedaparayana goshti.
After reaching Thoopul at about 10.00 a.m. Swami was taken inside his temple and readied for tirumanjanam. Ubhaya nachimars Shriya and Vasudha were brought from Deepaprakasar sannidhi and Deepaprakasar followed Them. They were readied for the tirumanjanam and the curtain was drawn. SriParakala Muth opposite Deepaprakasar temple is undergoing construction. Hayagrivar sannidhi was open and one had the satisfaction of offering patram/pushpam at the sannidhi.
The tirumanjanam started after Perumal Swami Desikan and the dravyams(materials) were readied. First the ‘upacharams’ were offered that is ‘chatram(umbrella), chamaram, hand fan, flag, mirror’ all made of silver.
Tirumanjanam started with water, followed by milk, curds, raw coconut water, honey, turmeric and sandal paste. Tulasi garlands adorned the deities as also garlands of different perfumed flowers. When the ‘sahasradhara tirumanjanam’ took place it was a ‘Shower of Mercy. ‘ The deities were dried with a towel and offered sambrani, ghata harathi and karpoora harathi. The devotees got Theertham. Srisathari and manjal- kaapu and flowers before the curtains were drawn for alamkaram.
It is a sukrutham(good luck) to be present in Thoopul any day but particularly on Sravanam. After alamkaram, Sattrumurai took place followed by Perumal Theertham, Srisathari and plenty of prasadams. May our Vedantha Guru Live another Hundred Years!
