Durmukhi Aadi Pooram (August 6th 2016) was the day after the wedding of Andal and Varadan. So they came in purappadu in the evening to bless devotees on sannidhi street and the mada veedhis. Residents living on the purappadu path made big kolams and stood outside their houses with their offerings of fruits and sugar candy and karpoora harathi was offered to Varadan /Ubhaya nachimars and Andal.
After returning to the temple Varadan visited Andal sannidhi and then returned to kanadi-arai. Special aradhana took place for Andal and ‘Iyarpa Satrumurai’ took place followed by Theertham and prasadam distribution. With this the festivities for Aadi Pooram concluded.
