Appeal For Nandavanam Maintenance & Construction Of Vasantha Mandapam At Thirunangoor SriVan Purushothama Perumal Temple

Thirunangur van Purushothaman

Sri.Van Purushothama Perumal Temple is one of 108 Vaishnava Divya Desams and among one in 11 Divya Desams of Thirunangur. The temple was sung by Sri.Thirumangai Azhwar.

Once upon a time Vyagrapatha Maharishi visited Thirunangoor along with his 3 year old son upamanyu for darshan. Maharishi  was mostly attracted by the lord in his vadivazhagu and he himself  involved in Pushpa Kainkaryam. One day vyagrapathar left his son in the temple and went to garden (present nandavanam which was cleaned  for daily use) to bring some flowers for worship of the lord.  The boy was cried for milk. After some time spontaneous grace the lord brought the Ksheerabdhi (milky ocean)  to thirunangur and fed with milk.

Maharanyam Sri.Sri.Muralidhara Swamigal under took the humble task of establishing a Nandhavanam with  thulasi plant and a variety of flowers, to be used for the worship of various deities. His effort Rs.2.00 lakhs was helped. The  land (1 acre) for the garden and electricity facilities was provided by the temple authorities. We have plan to cultivate  nearly 30 varieties of flowers which was sung by Sri.Thirumangai Azhwars’ pasurams of thirunangur  make a nandavanam a truly delightful place. Some  exclusive  varieties also blossom in certain seasons.

Indeed, the dream of Sri.Periazhwar, Sri.Thondaradipodi azhwar and andal has come true and devotees who have contributed to the success of  Nandhavanam can legitimately take pride in that they are also part of this great service.

However, sustaining this yeoman service requires continuous assistance and aid. The average life of a plant is not more than 3 years and certain varieties do not last longer than a year which means at regular intervals of 6  months to one year, new plants of one or another variety have to be planted and for this  new saplings have to be purchased.

Moreover periodical weeding manturing ad pruning besides daily watering also need to be undertaken.  For this a permanent gardener has to be appointed.

In essence, to maintain Nandhavanam and to meet the above expenses, we need the generous assistance of asthigas and everyone else who can help nurture this venture  and keep it  growing.

We are also glad to inform you that a Vasantha Mandapam is to be constructed in the middle of  the above nandavanam to conduct

Vasanthotsavam which cost works out Rs.3.00 Lakhs

Rendering such a service to the Supreme Lord by decorating  him with fragrant flowers was the cherished service of our Azhwars and Acharyas which is evident from the Divyaprabandham and the Stotras.  We request all asthigas to contribute liberally and get blessings of Sri.Van Purushothaman, azhwars and acharyas.

Based on the present monthly expenditure, it has also been decided to have Corpus Fund of Rs.25.00 Lakhs OR Rs.10,000/- pm

Asthigas/bhakthas  may sent the donation by way of dd/cheque favouring T.V.V.S.S.K.TRUST and mail to 4/83-A, Sri.Purushothama Perumal Koil Street, Nangoor-609106, Sirkali-Tk, Nagai District. Asthigas may transfer the funds to trust
