Ninth day evening it was – Kannadi Pallakku. A decade or so ago, there was a big eye capturing palanquin made of glass – rather with glasses fitted all over and with chandelier like things suspended on its arms – overall it presented a magnificent sight. Slowly it faded into oblivion as it was not maintained properly and glass pieces started falling as it was not maintained in the best manner.
A couple of years thereafter, there was no ‘kannadi pallakku’ instead Perumal had purappadu on ‘punniyakodi vimana chapparam’. Then a newly made one – looking differently than the earlier one was submitted to temple by Shri NC Sridhar and this one is now kept inside the temple premises itself. On Saturday evening Sri Parthasarathi along with his consorts had purappadu on this ‘palanquin made of glasses’. It was a grand purappadu replete with crackers, 8 nadaswaram, thavils and fanfare.
12/05/2012 அன்று ஒன்பதாம் நாள் – இரவு ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் கண்ணாடி பல்லக்கில் எழுந்து அருளினார். கைரவிணி குளக்கரையினிலே, தெற்கு குளக்கரை தெருவில் ஒரு மண்டபம் உள்ளது. இது கண்ணாடி பல்லக்கு அறை என்றே வழங்கப்படுகிறது. பல வருடங்கள் இங்கே ‘அழகான கண்ணாடி பல்லக்கு’ வைக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. பெரிய பல்லக்கு – முழுதும் கண்ணாடி வேலைப்பாடுகளுடன், பெரிய குஞ்சலங்கள் போன்று தொங்கும் கண்ணாடிகள் உடன் அழகாக இருந்தது இது. உத்சவத்துக்கு சில மணி நேரங்கள் முன்பு, இந்த மண்டபத்தில் இருந்து படோபடமாக ஏளப்பண்ணப்பட்டு கோவில் வாகன மண்டபத்தை வந்து சேரும். காலப்போக்கில் கண்ணாடிகள் உதிர்ந்து, இந்த புறப்பாடு நின்று போனது. பெருமாள் ஒன்பதாம் உத்சவம் இரவு, புண்ணியகோடி விமானத்தின், விமானம் இல்லாமல் சப்பரம் மட்டும் உள்ள அமைப்பில், சில வருடங்கள் ஏளினார். இந்த மண்டபம் அலுவலக அதிகாரிகள் கார் நிற்கும் இடமாக மாறிப்போனது வருத்தமே. சில வருடங்கள் முன் ஒரு பக்தர் (திரு என் சி ஸ்ரீதர்) மற்றொரு கண்ணாடி பல்லக்கு புதிதாக சமர்ப்பித்தார்.
கண்ணாடி பல்லக்கில் பெருமாள், எதிரே உபயநாச்சிமார் எழுந்து அருளி இருக்க, வாண வேடிக்கைகளுடன், விமர்சையாக புறப்பாடு நடைபெற்றது.
