Jyestabhishekam Begins at Tirumala Temple

The three day annual festival of Jyesthabhishekam began on ceremonial note in Tirumala temple on Saturday ( 02 June 2012).

Following the festival TTD has cancelled Vasanthotsavam arjitha seva on Saturday. Meanwhile the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy, Sri Devi and Bhu Devi were given celestial bath with “Panchamritams” comprising milk, curd, honey, sandal paste and turmeric after removing golden armour on Lord. This special abhishekam has been performed between 8am to 11am. Usually this festival is performed once in a year for three days in the month of Jyestha with festival concluding on Jyestha Nakshatra. As per legend this festival is celebrated to give longivity to the archa-vigraha of Lord. Later in the evening the Lord adorned in dazzling Vajrakavacham (Diamond armour)  taken on a grand procession around the four mada streets.
