Today morning , 3rd of June 2012, thousands of devotees had the dharshan of Ubhaya naachimaar’s when Devathirajan in Paramapatha nathan thirukolam rides on Sesha vahanam.
Varadarajar came down to Kanchipuram, also know as Sathya Vratha Kshethram, during Kritha yugam (the first of the 4 yugam) to bless Brahma, when he was performing a yagam to have dharshan of Brahmam. On Brahma’s request, Varadarajar continued to stay on top of Hasthi giri and continued to bless the devotees in that yugam. In Treta yugam, Varadar was worshiped by Gajenderan, yes the same elephant who was rescued from the clutches of the crocodile. Brahaspati, deva’s guru worshiped Varadar in Dwapara yugam. Currently in Kali yugam our Varadar is worshipped by Anathan. The present day archakas are carrying out the service on behalf of Adisheshan, the king of snakes. The king because of the service he is eternally rendering to our Lord. When Perarulalan rides on Sesha vahanam, he is honoring his archaka of the current yugam.
This purappadu is unique as we get to have the glimpse of our Lord in the same way he would be waiting for us in Srivaikuntam. Devathirajan is decked with Thanga thiru abishekam and he is wearing Robert clive khandi. I would give more details about the khandi and how it reached the rightful place.Naanmugan thiruvandhadhi would be recited during the purappadu, that establishes our Lords’s supremacy.
