Sri Prathivathi Bhayankaram Anna Swami varusha Thirunatchathiram is being celeberated on Aadi Pushyam,16/08/2012.

Sri Prativadi Bhayankaram Annan Swami was born  in SrIvatsa gOtram, of the noble ‘muDumbai’ descent ( one of the 74 simhasanaadhipathis) , same as SrI piLLai-lOkAchArya and his brother SrI azhagia-maNavALa-perumAL nAyanAr at viLakkoLi  sannidhi in Kanchipuram..

Sri Prathivadhi Bhayangaram Annan is a unique poorvacharya who has composed Sri Sukthis on Swami Desikan (Sapthadhi Rathna Malika) and Swami Manavala Mamunigal (Sri Vara Vara Muni suprabhatham etc).

Sri Annan learned the Sanskrit and Vedas under NayanArAchAryar, son of Vedanta  Desika. When he was the disciple of NayanArAchAryar, he defeated an advaitic pundit (Narasimha Misra) in a philosophical debate. Upon which NayanArAchAryar celebrated him as “PrativAdhi bhayankararE”. From that day onward, he and his descendants came to be known by that name. He stayed in Tirupati for sometime.

Later, after hearing the greatness of Manavala Mamunikal, he went to Srirangam and sought Swami’s divine feet. There, due to Mamunigal’s grace, he learnt the special Sastras and became one of his Ashta Dikgajas to propagate SriVaishnava philosophy.

His thaniyan sloka says he is the receptor of Sri Desikan’s Kataksham and Sri Mamunigal’s Karunai.
