Koyilvenni is a tiny village situated on Thanjavur-Tiruvarur Highway, 25km from Thanjavur near Needamangalam town. It is a rare sight in this village that Sri Ranganatha Swamy along with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi Thayars bless the devotees in standing posture at this ancient temple. The village is also of historical importance since we come across in history that Karikala Chola waged a war at ‘Venni Paranthalai’, which is now called Koyilvenni.

A trust named ‘Koyilvenni Sri Ranganatha Perumal Trust’ is functioning since 17/9/2004, with the noble objective of maintaining the temple so as to perform daily poojas and other rituals by duly qualified Archakar. With the active participation and co-operation of devotees and well-wishers, ‘Maha Samprokshanam’ was performed successfully on 17/3/2006 and Anjaneyar sannidhi constructed at the Prakaram. A separate sannidhi for Chakrathalwar was constructed on 9/2/2012 by installing moolavar and uthsavar vigrahams and since the presiding deity is Sri Ranganatha perumal, Andal panchaloka vigraham is installed at ‘sanctum sanctorum’.
To meet the Nithya Aradhana expenses like purchase of lamp oil, flowers, firewood, Dhoopams and also monthly expenses concerned with Archakar, a schema ‘Deepa Pushpa Kainkaryam’ has been introduced by the trust.

Thanks Swamin for sharing this. Adiyen had the baghyam of visiting this Kshetram 2 weeks ago. Koyilvenni is about 12 kms from Vaduvoor. Rare to have darshan of Sri Ranganathar in standing posture. Wanted to pass on my appreciation to the archakar, a very dedicated person.
