Today (July 27, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Aadi Uthirattadhi, is the 6th day of Chaturmasya Sankalpam for HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srimathe Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yatindra Mahadesikan. The morning Vishvaroopam was followed by Abhigamanam performed by HH Azhagiyasingar. Theertham Viniyogam was followed by Sri Shatari, blessing every child, adult and the Mutt elephant Malolan. Obtaining Sri Shatari from Srimath Azhagiyasingar makes the day a Sudinam (an auspicious day). This happens between 8.00-8.30 am. This is followed by Prasada Viniyogam. Today the prasadam was coconut rice. After the goshti, HH Srimath Azhagiyasingar performs Samashrayanam and Bharanyasam. It is an ennobling sight to see young brahmacharis with their new poonals and recently wedded girls in their kurai waiting nervously for the sankhu and chakram to be embedded on their shoulders. Samashrayanam is done immediately after upanayanam for boys and after marriage for girls. It gives one the right to do japam. Men are qualified to do Salagrama aradhanam after their Nityakarmas. Women get the privilege of assisting their husbands during Aradhanam and preparing prasadam for Perumal and athithis.

Today being Uthirattadhi is also the thirunakshatram of HH 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar. HH 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar took avatharam on Kartigai Uthirattadhi day in the Tamil year Akshaya (November 1926) at Villivalam. The Acharyan was called to Sanyasashramam in the Tamil year Prajothpathi in Aippasi Uthirattadhi (October 21, 1991). Acharyan’s Pattabhishekam took place in the Tamil year Angirasa in the month of Avani under the star Thiruvadirai (August 24, 92). HH 45th Azhagiyasingar attained Paramapadhaprapthi on May 19 ,2013 (Vaikasi Sukla Navami). The Brindavanam will come up shortly at Dasavatharan Sannidhi next to those of HH 41st and 44th Srimath Azhagiyasingars. Today there Champaka Valayam (ring of champaka flowers) was offered at the spot where Srimath Azhagiyasingar’s Thirumeni is ensconed. One shisyai and close kainkaryapara by name Mala ensures that kolam is put everyday and a lamp is kept burning.
