Today August 15th, 2013; Vijaya Aadi Vishakam, HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan is on the 25th day of Chathurmasya vratham at Srirangam Dasavatharan Sannidhi.
Today being holiday on the occasion of Indian Independence Day there was a big crowd at Abhigamanam . Theertham, SriSathari and Prasada Viniyogam (Dadhiannam and Kesari) were over by 8.45 am. Today there were special celebrations at Sri Sannidhi. All around SriRangam schools had flag hoisting and patriotic songs could be heard. Many a place reverberated with bhajans and slokas, for that is the way asthikas celebrate.
At Sri Ahobila Muth every Indepence Day a commitee of Asthikas from Neyveli reach the place wherever Srimath Azhagiyasingar camps and sponsor Tirumanjanam, Thadeearadhanai and Dolai. They have been doing this kainkaryam for the past 44 years. Dandavath Pranamams to the devotees is a must. Usually Dolai for Kannan is done in the evenings but today it took place in the morning itself. It takes about 20 minutes to set up Dolai Kannan. If the area available is big enough all six silver supports are used otherwise four. There being ample space at Sathabhisheka mandapam Dolai (golden swing) was set with six. The red velvet curtain with a dancing Krishna embroidered was drawn. Usually when Dolai takes place in a devotees house everything has to be transported but today Kannan had to be carried from the Swarna Mandapam to the dolai. When the curtain opened He made us spell bound with His beauty adorned with ornaments in plenty and beautiful flower garlands and His long braid decorated with golden hair ornaments put infront for all to see. Beautiful songs were sung but what gave competition to our Dolai Kannan was the beautifully choreographed dance programme presented by a group of children and their guru.
The theme was Krishna and their dance offering to Dolai Kannan left everyone spellbound. Without curtains or a stage these kids were trained to perfection and changed head gear and used props effectively without wasting time. They danced their way into our hearts. Dolai Kannan was forgotten and the bakthas were transported to Dwapara yugam and enjoyed the bhavas, synchronisation and the ease of their movements. Srimadh Azhagiyasingar blessed the troupe and the orgainsers. Dolai kannan was taken back to the swarna mandapam and the children were relieved that their offering was a thundering success. Jai Malola! Jai Sri Krishna! Jai Srimadh Azhagiasingar!
