Today August 18th, 2013; Vijaya Aavani Pooradam, is the 28th day of HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan’s Chathurmasya Sankalpam.
It being a Sunday and a Dwadasi devotees came in large numbers. The first stop for devotees is the Dasavathara Sannidhi where they have darshan of Swami Desikan, TirumangaiAzhwar, Adivan Sathakopan and the Dasavathara murthis. Aradhakar swami welcomes everyone and places SriSathari on their heads and offers the fruits or flowers which devotees bring to the assemblage of divyamangalamurthis. After doing pradakshinam they head for the Brindavanams of 41st, 44th and 45th Srimadh Azhagiasingars and do pradakshinams and wait for the aradhakar swami to come. Once thaligai is offered, aradhakar swami places the shathari of Srimadh Azhagiasingar on the heads of all present. Devotees then move to the Sathabhisheka mandapam (This mandapam was made during the 80th Tirunakshatram of 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar) in time for Mangala Harathi. After the tiered Harathi and ghata (pot) Harathi are offered, Sannidhi paricharakas clean it up insert new wicks, and dip it in ghee from the lamp and keep it ready for the Ijyai.
Being Dwadasi the devotees had the bhagiam of watching Padhuka aradhanam done to the padhukas of 45 Srimath Azhagiyasingars. Once the Upacharams like fan, chamarams etc were offered, Srimath Azhagiyasingar removed garlands from the swarna mandapam and Sannidhi paricharakas put it on a plate and handed it to Dasavathara sannidhi aradhakar swami along with perumal theertham. Trichinam is sounded and aradhakar swami heads to the Brindavanam to garland Srimath Azhagiyasingars archa tirumenis (This is done everyday). Satrumurai was followed by Theertham and SriSathari.
The patience and affection with which Srimath Azhagiyasingar places the SriSathari on every head present is worth observing. Flowers were systematically given and properly distributed. Srimath Azhagiyasingar sat on the golden simhasanam and Sri Padhuka theertham was given to everyone. Though the queue looked big it moved in order and was duly controlled by volunteers. After the sweekaram (acceptance) of SriPadhuka theertham after the customary offering of money, devotees sat down in rows and waited for the Dwadasi paranai.
Today is Pooradam the constellation under which 43rd Srimadh Azhagiasingar took avatharam at Devanarvillagam in Palva Varusham, Kartigaimasam ( 1901). Swami was called to Sanyasashramam in Vikruthi Varsham, Thai Friday(9th of February 1951). HH had Pattabhishekam on 13th of May 1953. HH attained Paramapadhaprapthi on Hemalamba, Kartikai Thritheeyai day (24th November 1957) at Naimisharanyam. HH was in asthanam for 5 years and 10 months. This Srimadh Azhagiasingar’s Brindavanam is at Naimisharanyam.
