Today August 24th, 2013; Vijaya Avani Uthirattathi, is Day 34 of HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan’s Chathurmasya Sankalpam. Abhigamanam, theertham SriSathari and Prasadha Viniyogam (Tilannam-Sesame rice, fruits) took place at the usual time.
What caught the attention of everyone assembled today was the sight of a tiny bhaktha having Samashrayanam done. The little one bravely had shankhu-chakra dharanam done and took Mantra upadesham from Srimath Azhagiyasingar with folded palms. It was a blessing to see this little Bhaghavatha and the manner in which Srimath Azhagiyasingar taught the kid was fascinating. The mercy of Azhagiasingars are great and have been sung about by Mukkur Srimath Azhagiyasingar in His “Daya Sagara Shathakam”.
Today being Uthirattathi our thoughts go to HH 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar who took avatharam at Villivallam on an Akshaya Kartigai Uthirattathi day. Srimath Azhagiyasingar was the younger brother of Vedantha Vavaduka Sri U.Ve Villivallam Narayancharya Swami. Srimath Azhagiyasingar did various sancharams and earned the love of thousands of shishyas. The number of kaikaryams at different divya desams, and Sri Ahobilam in particular, is there for us to see. His period could be called a golden period, literally and otherwise. Srimath Azhagiyasingar was a perfectionist and through strictness mixed with love organised the running of Sri Ahobila Mutt. The greatest Kalyanagunam was Saulabhyam – anyone from a scholar to a layman could reach out to HH. Srimath Azhagiyasingar attained Paramapadam on May 19, 2013 at Srirangam where His Brindavanam will be coming up.
Among the many Malola Sevakas mention must be made of those who are involved in sundry but important kainkaryams daily. Before Srimath Azhagiyasingar comes to a place water is sprinkled and cleaned up. After all devotees go home the Sathabhishekam Mandapam is swept and mopped. Then there is a person carrying the thivetti. The team of Melakaras, with drums and thiruchinnam have the bhagyam of walking infront of Srimath Azhagiyasingar playing their musical notes and also during Abhigamanam, Ijyai and Panaka Aradhanai and during Dolais. Then there is the Mahout who takes care of the elephant, and controls him. Srimath Azhagiyasingar is God for them. They have the bhagyam of getting Malola Prasadam all the time. They are all Sukruths.
