Today August 30th, 2013; Vijaya Aavani Mrigasheersham, is Day 40 of HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan’s Chathurmasya vratham. Today we expected things would be delayed because the SriJayanthi utsavam concluded after 12.00pm last night,  but Srimath Azhagiyasingar was up at 4.00am. as usual and Abhigamanam, theertham, Srisathari and prasada viniyogam (fruits and dadhiannam) were over by 8.45 am.  As the star is Mrighasheersham, we must offer our dandavath pranamams to Thillaisthanam swami whose Brindavanam is at Dasavatharan sannidhi. Srikrishna janma utsavam was celebrated grandly at SriMatham, photos of which can be viewed in this link:Sri Jayanthi Dolai at Ahobila Mutt

During dolai it was a great experience listening to SriKrishnajanmam from the Tiruvakku of Srimath Azhagiyasingar surrounded by Srivaishnavas and in SriRangam. Srimath Azhagiyasingar read the sanskrit and explained in Tamil. HH began by saying that we should follow Krishna’s upadesam but SriRama’s actions. SriKrishna revealed His Paratvam from the time He took avatharam with chathurbhujams (four hands) Devaki in her anxiety asked Him to take a human form. This was the third time Sriman Narayana was born to the same parents, first as Prisnigarban, Vamana and then as Krishna. ” Tamadhbhutham Balakam Ambujekshanam……..” goes the avathara description.  Adbhutham can be loosely translated as ” Amazing”!   The lotus-eyed. four handed Lord showed Himself in entirety with Kausthubham and other identifications to His parents. In Rama avatharam His divinity was revealed only on 3 occasions –  1.Jaatayu moksham,  2. Anger at Samudrarajan’s behaviour  and  3) when objections were raised for giving Vibhishana Saranagathi.  But Krishna who pretended to be a cowherd showed His divinity all the time and His upadesam in Bhaghavad-Gita is about Saranagathi as the ultimate and effective way to Moksham. Dushta Nigraham and Shishta Paripalanam was His  Mission and Krishna expresses this explicitly. After dolai Srijayanthi Vishesha aradhanam took place and after theertham-Srisathari vishesha paranai took place. Navaneetham, Sukkuvellam, various bhakshanams like uppu and vellacheedais, mullumurruku, suyam, appam, mysore pak were served along with rice, paruppu, morkuzhambu, two karamadhus, kootu, sathamadhu, kannamudhu, vadai and buttermilk.  Ahobila Mutt follows the practise of paranai after utsavam. The fasting is followed by feasting.
