Today September 1, 2013; Vijaya Aavani Punarvasu, is Day 42 of HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan’s Chathurmasya sankalpam.
It is an Ekadashi day and a Sunday so the devotees at Sri Matham was more than usual. Many had a dip in Cauvery/Kollidam as a bath in a punya theertham is recommended and thanks to the copious rains the rivers have filled up. The water is all the more purified by Srimath Azhagiyasingar who goes to Kollidam early every morning. Theertham, Srisathari and prasada (fruits and arisi upma) viniyogam finished by 8.45am. Samashrayanam and mantropadesham was done. Devotees managed to be on time (9.15 am) for NammPerumal Purappadu. Thirumanjanam will take place at Santhanu Mandapam.
At Periya Koil, Ekadashi Pradakshinam was done by devotees. Punarvasu is the star chosen by SriRama for His avatharam as Dasharatha’s son. The Ramabhaktha Kulasekhara Azhwar also took avatharam in Masi Punarpoosam. In the Ahobila Muth lineage the 24th Srimath Azhagiyasingar took avatharam in Chithrai Punarpoosam in Kalyanapuram. HH was called to Sanyasam at SriRangapatna in Swabhanu varsham Thai Shukla Panchami (February 1764) day. HH attained Paramapadam at Kokarayanpettai in Manmatha varsham Masi Krishna Thritheeyai day (March 1776) Asthana kalam was 12 years and 1month. His Brindavanam is at Kokarayan pettai.
Sri Malola parivaram and Srimath Azhagiyasingars travel in a fleet of buses. Srimath Azhagiyasingar’s vimanam is designed like a palanquin and is covered with deer skin. Ashrama kainkaryaparas travel with HH. Sancharam shedule is prepared fairly in advance and published in Sri NrisimhaPriya and on the Net. With improved communication things are so much easier but Sancharam is what Malola does and Azhagiyasingars have been in sancharam all the time. Prior to the days of motored vehicles travel used to be in palanquins with three elephants, camels and horses. They used to traverse as much as 32 miles per day, without breaking the Trikala Aradhanam for SriMalolan and the deities. The place for stopping had to located. Well-water facilities had to be found and enough space to house Srimath Azhagiyasingar and His parivaram had to be found at different places on the route. All this work is done by E.V. Desikan Swami. HH 45th Srimath Azhagiyasingar described him as Vishvaksena. Swami like Hanuman takes care of other details also. His HR skills are amazing. The Swami has been a link between loukikas and Srimath Azhagiyasingar. He has been in the Muth from the time of HH 43rd Srimath Azhagiyasingar and is a storehouse of experience. During HH 44th Srimath Azhagiyasingar’s Rajagopuram kainkaryam he got government permissions, tax exemptions etc and can approach governors, chief ministers and even presidents. He completes the work allocated efficiently and effectively. He is the All India Power Agent of Sri Ahobila Muth. It was this swami who took the Muth keys from HH 45thSrimath Azhagiyasingar’s Charama Thirumeni and handed it over to HH 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar. His varied experiences and encounters will make a separate book. Such then is the amount of work done by different kainkaryaparas to ensure the smooth and exacting procedures of Sri Malola Aradhanam.
