On September 30, 2013, Therottam for the Noothana Swarna Ratham took place in a grand manner at Tirumala in the morning at 9 am. The golden chariot was taken on a procession along four mada streets and kept inside the newly constructed Swarnaratha mandapam behind Vahana Mandapam.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) undertook golden plating works for the new Swarna Ratham which was completed on September 27, 2013. The 32-feet tall Ratham is a one of its kind with about 74 kg of gold and 2,900 kg of copper used in the chariot weighing about 28,000 kg. TTD spent over Rs 24 crores to prepare the new golden chariot.
This Swarna Ratham will be used during the Purattasi Brahmotsavam at Tirumala scheduled to commence on October 5, 2013 with Dwajarohanam. The 9-day utsavam will conclude on October 13, 2013. Swarna Ratham/Thanga Ther purappadu will take place on October 10, 2013. For the detailed programme of the Brahmotsavam, please visit Purattasi Brahmotsavam at Tirumala

As is the Thanga Ther is an absolute marvel and wonder! So unique and the first of its kind. Imagine how it would be to see Perumal and his Consorts in it during Brahmotsavam! For those who could make it, it would simply be a great treat for their eyes.
For the rest of us, Anudinam will be there. Thank you in advance Anudinam for the impending Purattasi Brahmotsavam coverage that you’ll bring us.
