Today, Vijaya Purratasi Vishakam, October 8th 2013 was the fifth day of Adivan Sathakopan’s 634th Tirunakshatram at SriRangam, Sri Ahobila Muth. Vishakam is the nakshatram Nammazhwar chose for avataram. It is significant that Tiruvaymozhi Parayanam started today. Tiruvaymozhi is the essence of SamaVedam. While there are restrictions in the chanting of vedams, Arulichezhal can be said by one and all. Such then is the Karunai of Nammazhwar who made the Truth known to everyone. And what is this truth? The Truth is that Sriman Narayana is the goal and bhakthi and Prappathi are the means. Nammazhwar is therefore hailed as “Prappanna jana kootasthar”. Today is the Tirunakshatram of Parandur Vangipuram 33rd Srimadh Azhagiasingar. At Utthara Veedhi Sri Ahobila Muth, Satrumurai took place after Harathi and was followed by Theertham, SriSathari, Sripadatheertham and Prasada viniyogam (kadambam). Devotees assembled had the bhagiam of offering their mite as SriPadhatheertha kaanikai.
Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan became the recepient of Nammazhwar’s grace at Azhwar Tirunagari and several devotees became shishyas during HH’s sancharam. Among the pradhana shisyas was Mannapakkam Thozhappar. .Who is a Pradhana Shishyar? One who does samashrayanam, Bharanyasam and kalakshepam of the four that is Sri Bashyam, Githa Bhasyam, Bhaghavadh Vishayam and Srimadh Rahasyatrayasaram at the feet of the same acharyan is called that acharyan’s Pradhana Shishyan. At the command of Adivan Sri Sathakopan Thozhappar swami did nirmanam of 8 granthams pertaining to Dharma sasthrams and was conferred the title “Vaidhika Sarvabhomar” by his guru. Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan’s Kalakshepams were much sought after and during Sri Bashya Kalakshepam in TiruNarayanpuram a five headed cobra was part of the kalakshepa goshti. The sarpam was none other than Bhaghavadh Ramanuja and when the verse from Yathiraja Sapthathi-Pranamam Lakshmana Muni: was chanted the sarpam disappeared. Bhashyakarar came to Adivan Sathakopan in His dream and as per His command the Gopuram of Tirunarayanan which was dilapidated was reconstructed and Swami Desikan Prathishtai was done inside the temple. The Rajagopuram was constructed by a king of Karnataka who was afflicted by a terrible disease. Adivan Sathakopan swami asked the king to undertake construction of gopuram and assured him that he would be freed from disease. The king obeyed and was cured. The construction of steps (sopanam) and resting places on Tirumala was done by Sathakopa jeer through His shishyas. When taking the Sopanamargam to Tirumala we must remember our Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan. The next Divya Desa Perumal to command Adivan Sri Sathakopan was Kanchi Sri Devaperumal.
