Today Vijaya, Purattasi, Anusham, October 9th 2013 was Day-6 of Srimath Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan’s 634th Thirunakshatram celebrations at Srirangam Sri Ahobila Mutt. Veda Parayanam and Thiruvazhmozhi parayanam started in the morning at 8.00am and Satrumurai, Theertham, Sri Sathari and Prasada Viniyogam (lemon-rice and groundnut sundal) took place by 11.00am. Tomorrow morning at 6.00 am, there will be Thiruveedhi purappadu for Srimath Adivan Sathakopan which will start from Utthira veedhi Ahobila Mutt as it is ThiruKettai Nannal the day when Swami took avatharam six centuries ago.
The Perumal of Melkote and Tirumala because of their proximity to Sathakopa Jeer (Thiruarayanapuram was HH’s avathara sthalam and Srinivasa’s anugraham was responsible for Swami’s avatharam) got important kainkaryams done through their beloved child. After Gopura Nirmana kainkaryam at Melkote, and SopanaNirmanam at Tirumala, DevaPerumal (Swami studied at Kanchipuram) called upon Sathakopa Jeeyar to construct a hundred-pillarmamdapam on the banks of Anantha Saras. Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan got this beautifully sculptured Mandapam completed through a wealthy shishya and had utsavam for Perundevi Thayar and Varadaraja Perumal done in this amazing mandapam.
Swami was in Kanchipuram for several years serving Kalakshepam and spreading Gnanam to numerous Sri Vaishnavas. At that time, a Vidvan called Udhaya Bhanu Misra came to Sri Kanchi and invited swami for discussing Sastrartham. The debate continued for 12 days and both sides were equally matched. Swami was worried and prayed to LakshmiNrisimha and that night Swami Desikan gave His blessing and asked Sathakopa Jeer to argue on the basis of Satha Dushani. Swami Desikan’s Satha Dushani helped Adivan Sathakopa Jeer win and Udhaya Bhanu Misra became a disciple of Sathakopa jeer. Grateful to Swami Desikan, Jeeyar swami built a sannidhi for Swami Desikan near the Dwajasthambam of Devadhi Rajan and at Thoopul the avatharasthalam of our Vedantha guru. Such was the mahimai of our Adivan Sathakopa Yathindra Mahadesikan. Tomorrow on His avatharam day let us remember Him and chant His Thaniyan and offer special Thaligai to Perumal in our homes.
