During Vijaya Varusha Aippasi (October 18-November 16, 2013), two key festivals will be celebrated in a grand manner at Srirangam. The first is the Oonjal Utsavam. This will be celebrated for 9 days starting October 22, 2013 (Tuesday) to conclude on October 30, 2013.
During this utsavam, Namperumal will have Oonjal Utsavam in Oonjal/Dolai Mandapam everyday evening from around 6 pm to around 9 pm. There will be special alankaram for Perumal on all the days. On Day 7 (October 28, 2013), Namperumal along with Ubhaya Nachiyars will have purappadu from moolasthanam at 6 pm. As during the Pavithrotsavam, Nel Alavu Kandarulal’ will take place at around 7:00 followed by Thiruvanthikapu at Ranganayaki Thayar Sannadhi. This will be followed by the usual Oonjal Utsavam and Namperumal will return to moolasthanam at around 10:15 pm on this day. On Day 9 (October 30, 2013), Oonjal Satrumurai will take place. Namperumal will have Theerthavari in Chandra Pushkarni in the morning at around 9:45 pm followed by Thirumanjanam in Oonjal Mandapam between 11 am and 1:30 pm. In the evening, Oojal utsavam satrumurai will take place marking the conclusion of the utsavam.
The second utsavam is Deepavali. This utsavam will be celebrated on November 2nd, 2013 (Vijaya Varusha Aippasi Masam 16).
On that day, Namperumal’s purappadu from moolasthanam to Santhanu Mandapam will take place at 10-10:30 am. Thirumanjanam will take place at this mandapam from 11 am to 1:30 pm. Sevarthis will have darsanam of Namperumal in Jali Alankaram from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Thereafter, Namperumal purappadu from Mandapam will take place to return to moolasthanam after Azhwar Acharyarkku Mariyadai.
