Today, November 10, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Aippasi Thiruvonam, the Mudhal Azhwar, Poigai Azhwar’s Thirunakshatram is being celebrated in a grand manner at the Avathara Sthalam of the Azhwar, Thiruvekka Sri Yathokthakari Swamy Thirukkoil. Today is also the Thirunakshatram of Pillai Lokacharyar. In the morning, Thirumanjanam was performed for the Azhwar who came out of the mandapam in Pallakki. Pradakshinam was done around the temple and the Azhwar received Vastram and blessings (Shatari) from Sri Yathokthakari Perumal. During the Pradakshinam in the Garbhaalayam, Azhwar had the anugraham of Lord Rama (Ramar Shatari). Pillai Lokacharyar accompanied the Azhwar in the Pallakki. There was purappadu to Kanchi Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple and the four Mada Veedhis.
After returning to the temple, thirumanjanam was performed for Poigai Azhwar, Pillai Lokacharyar along with Sri Yathokthakari Perumal and Ubhaya Nachiyars and Sri Komalavalli Thayar at around 1 pm in the afternoon. Several astikas took part in the utsavam and had the blessings of Azhwar, Pillai Lokacharyar and Perumal.
Poigai Azhwar Avathara Utsavam was celebrated at the temple for 10 days from November 1-10, 2013. Poigai Azhwar was the manifestation of Perumal’s Panchajanyam the divine Conch. Poigai is pond and Azhwar took avatharam in a sacred pond that is the pushkarni at Yathothkari temple in Kanchipuram. This Mudhal Azhwar composed Mudhal Thiruvanthathi a composition of 100 Pasurams in Anthathadi style (The last word of the first verse is the first word of the next verse).
