On December 5, 2013; Vijaya Varusha Pooradam, there was Sahasra Deepam offering at Srirangam Periya Ashramam. Periya Ashramam is what Andavan Ashramam SrIrangam is known as. Devotees gathered at Chitra Veedhi Swami Desikan temple and left for the ashramam at about 5.30 pm in a van. As we reached the ashram the cows grazing at the entrance in the serene atmosphere reminded us that it was Godhuli time. As we entered the Brindavanam of Thirukundanthai Srimadh Andavan, Vedantha Ramanuja Mahadesikan, we found the place ready with beautiful kolams and mud lamps arranged in different places.and wicks were ready dipped in oil. Everyone set about putting oil, placing wicks and arranging the mud deepams in an aesthetic manner. Soon lamps were lit to the accompaniment of Swami Desikan’s SriStuthi, infront of and all round the prakarams of the Brindavam both inner and outer. Since there was power failure at that point of time the series of earthern lamps dazzled like stars around the Brindavanam. Meanwhile others were busy lighting lamps at Varadharaja Perumal Sannidhi, both inside and in the prakarams. Students of Srimath Andavan Pathasala lit lamps around the Nadabhavi purified by Andavan Swamis. Soon the ashram was a glow with lamps twinkling in the dark and devotees recalled the times of Thirukudanthai Srimath Andavan and narrated many personal experiences. Like the lamps which exhaust themselves by spreading light all around acharyas with their strict anushtanams and continuous kalakshepams spread the light of knowledge and lead us to the path of Prapatthi which confers eternal service to the Divya Dampathis in Sri Vaikuntam.
Satrumurai was followed by Theertham, Sri Sathari and Prasada Viniyogam. The Sri Sathari at Periya Asramam makes a pleasant tinkling sound when it blesses the head of each devotee, reminding us about the sound of Mani Padhukas. While devotees chanted Sri Stuthi and Swami Desika Mangalam, sumptuous kesari and Ven Pongal was served to all assembled devotees. Each bhaktha received Rs.10 dakshinai. There was feast for the eyes, ears, tongue and the heart and everyone returned to the van satisfied and happy.
The following are some of the photographs taken on the occasion…

Adiyen. The Photos Coverage are incredible. The Sahasra Deepam at Srirangam Andavan Ashram is portrayed very well. We have felt in heart that we were in Srirangam physically though we are not.
