Today, February 15, 2014; Vijaya Varusha Masi Maham, Masi Maham Utsavam was celebrated at Sri Kothandaramaswamy Temple, Vaduvur in a grand manner. The highlights includes Thiruveedhi Ula (procession/purapadu) of Divya Dampathis to Sarayu pushkarni (temple tank) and Theerthavari there.
Masi Maham is an important festival in Srivaishnava temples. The Maham star in the Masi month usually falls on the full moon day and is considered highly auspicious. One of the important rituals on this day is the taking of vigrahams to the seashore or ponds. It is believed that taking a dip in the holy water along with the vigrahams on this day is also very auspicious.
