When we have darshan of Perumal we begin from the Feet. Tiruvadi is where a bhaktha takes shelter. While having darshan of Periya Perumal we have a limited time and are advised to proceed to the left hand side corner to have darshan of His Tiruvadis and then move our vision uptowards the crown. Amalanathipiran is a creation in this order as also Swami Desikan’s BhaghavadhDhyanasopanam. The sight of the divine feet with golden anklets remains in the mind of the bhakthas. Tiruvadi Sevai being of utmost importance we have Sri Ranga’s Tiruvadis at every prakaram in the SriRangam temple corresponding with His reclining Feet. Tiruvadi in Sri Vaishnava parlance refers to Garuda who is Periya Tiruvadi and Hanuman who is Siriya Tiruvadi. In the 4th prakaram in the manalveli we have Garudazhwar on the small mandap housing the Tiruvadis and in the 6th prakaram on East Utthira Veedhi opposite to Poundarikapuram Swami Desikan Sannidhi we have Tiruvadis with Hanuman, Varadarajan SriDevi and Bhudevi and LakshmiNrisimha on the walls.
