Today, 9 March 2014, Vijaya, Masi Mrighasheersham; is the 6th day of Masi Theppotsavam at SriRangam Ranganathaswami temple. Namperumal purappadu was scheduled for 6.30a.m. but it being the Tirunakshatam of Tirukacchi Nambi NamPerumal left Moolasthanam at 7.45 a.m. Clad in a beautiful dark blue silk with red border the Neelamani, navaratna pendant, emerald and ruby pendants formed a series with the long kasumalai forming an outline. The ruby abhayahastham, Kasthuri Tilakam and makarakundalams gained beauty as they did the kainkaryam of adorning Rangaraja. People stood at various vantage points on Utthira veedhi to have a glimpse of their favourite NamPerumal.
Today being Tirukacchi Nambi’s Tirunakshatram let us bow down our heads and remember the mahan of Poovirindhavalli known for aalavatta kainkaryam for Kanchi VaradarajaPerumal. He used to actually converse with Deva Perumal. Ramanuja revered Nambi and accepted Tirukkachi Nambi as acharyan. His six words that were answers provided by Varadaraja Perumal to six questions asked by Ramanujacharya through Nambi contain the essence of Vishishtadvaitham. And it was for this devotee that NamPerumal waited and left late in purappadu illustrating the greatness of bhaghavathas. NamPerumal will be in Vanniyar mandapam for the day but evening purappadu will start in yanaivahanam from vahana mandapam inside the temple at 8.00p.m.
