Yesterday, 8 April 2014,Vijaya Panguni Punarpoosam ; is Day 4 of NamPerumal’s AdhiBrahmotsavam. Last night it was about 8.30p.m. when NamPerumal reached Melur Road after travelling to Jeeyapuram which is almost 11 km from SriRangam. The Srimamthangigals and other kainkaryaparas, the Veda and Prabhandha goshti ,Aradhakar swamis and the entire entourage along with innumerable devotees go through the process of traversing along sands, crossing the river cheerfully.(NamPerumal will not cross a bridge) All through the route arrangements were made for refreshments, lunch etc by the local devotees who were overwhelmed by NamPerumal’s visit.Srirangamvasis meanwhile could not bear the separation of their Perumal and gathered in huge numbers to welcome Him back. At Melur Road devotees got to enjoy the company of their Perumal quite some time as He waited at the Poundarikapuram crossing. Ah Their Lord was safe home and they went back relieved.
Today morning Purappadu did not take place on the Chitra streets and NamPerumal gave darshan throughout the day at Ranga vilas Mandapam. Evening Garuda vahana Purappadu started at 6.30p.m.The four Chitra Veedhis were jampacked with devotees who were angered at the sight of huge cars and vehicles moving continuously. Any way once the burning torches were sighted they craned their necks to see the two white umbrellas and Hari the temple horse followed by the Divya prabhandham goshti and NamPerumal following them on His very own vehicle-Garuthman. Both wore white sik dhotis with broad jari borders and everyone felt happy to have seen their Perumal on the golden Garuda. Once the rounds were done there was Tiruvehndi-kaapu before NamPerumal reached Vahana mandapam from where He returned to Kanadi arai by 9.30p.m.
