On 25 April,2014,Jaya Chitrai Sadhayam; was the seventh day of the ongoing Viruppan Tirunal. The seventh day was NamPerumal’s “Kannadi Arai” sevai . Between 7.00a.m. till noon devotees thronged to have a look at their Perumal at close quarters in the mirror room adjacent to Ul Garudazhwar sannidhi and to receive SriSathari and Theertham and also darshan of Periya Perumal.Usually it takes about an hour but today it took approximately2-3 hours.
In the evening Purappadu from Kanadi Arai took place at 6.30p.m. It was a delight to see NamPerumal with Ubhaya Nachimars descending the steps .Everyone present craned their necks to get a good view. After crossing Nazhiketan vasal The Trio proceeded towards the temple Tirukootaram or granary for” Nel Alavu”. Paddy is measured with a golden Marrakal (A marrakal is about 3kgs) infront of NamPerumal who wore  the Pandian crown and kasu malais and chains and pendants a plenty but what caught  everyone’s attention was  the exquisite Vimana Pathakam which is a masterpiece. After Nel Alavu the procession came out of Ranga Ranga gopuram but Chitra Veedhi purappadu did not take place. The procession reached Thayar Sannidhi by 9.00 p.m. Tirumanjanam took place at Navarathri mandapamand NamPerumal returned to Kanadi Arai by 1.00a.m.(26.04.2014).
