Yesterday, 5 May 2014,Jaya Chitrai Punarvasu; was the 2nd day of Poochathu utsavam at SriRangam. Veli Kodai took place grandly at Manalveli around 7.00p.m. Each day the flower wrap is woven differently and aesthetically. NamPerumal wore a white veshti with broad meroon border and a crown of Vakula(Mazhiam) flowers. Vakula is the favourite of Nammazhwar and Nammazhwar is the favourite of Perumal. Perhaps it is to tell us to remember Nammazhwar that NamPerumal sports Mazhiam flowers around His crown.Roses, champakams, manoranjitham ,dhavanam and mailigai(jasmine) were woven beautifully and adorned Rangaraja. With the cool evening breeze blowing and Garudazhwar and SriHanuman looking down from the rampart walls the devotees craning their necks to enjoy the floral beauty felt happy to be part of the utsavam and to be able to offer pushpam to their Perumal
