Jaya Varusha Aani Brahmotsavam is scheduled to commence tomorrow, July 6, 2014, at Sri Jagannatha Perumal Temple, Thirumazhisai with Dwajarohanam. The 10 day utsavam will conclude on July 15, 2014 with Pushpa Yagam. On the previous day, Dwajavarohanam will take place. Today, Ankurarpanam took place at the temple.
Located 28kms from Chennai on the Poonamallee-Thiruvallur-Tirupathi Highway is the Madhyama Jagannatha Perumal temple at Thirumazhisai, the birth place of Thirumazhisai Azhwar, where Jagannatha Perumal is seen in a sitting posture along with Rukmini and Satyabhama. The temple is also referred to as the Thirumazhisai Azhwar temple. The temple that dates back to the Dwapara Yugam, finds reference in the Brahmanda Purana as ‘Mageesara Kshetram’. The temple’s prominence can be seen from the significant 1000year old inscriptions that one finds inside the temple.
