Yesterday, 4 February 2015, Jaya Thai Ayilyam; is the concluding day of Bhupathi Tirunal. NamPerumal left in Aalum Pallaku at 8.00 p.m.from Vahana mandapam. AalumPallaku is a long palanquin decorated with jasmine, asters(samanthi) and vrikshi(red flowers). In the centre stood NamPerumal draped in white silk bordered with zari, bedecked with emerald pendants and a series of pendants and wearing a golden longish crown and a garland in which the redvrikshi flowers dominated.
The vrikshi flower of SriRangam is believed to be a devotee of Krishna in Dwaparayugam who was blessed by the Lord to be born such. As NamPerumal came out swaying from side to side along the Uthira veedis devotees thronged to have a glimpse of Him and ran along with the pallaku to look at Him again and again. Several Astikas took part in the Aalum Pallaku Purappadu and had the blessings of Sri Namperumal.
