On the 30th evening of May 2015 we attended ‘Beri Thadanam”. Beri Thadanam’ ceremony which was observed infront of the mirror hall. The velvet curtain was drawn and Varadan in His flowing yellow silk garment stood along the ubhaya nachimars in violet silk bedecked with beautiful ornaments. Beri Thadanam is an invitation to celestials and devathas to attend the Brahmotsavam and enjoy the festivities. After each invitation the drum is beaten and once all are invited Perumal is ready to ascend on His vahanas.
Simham was the vahanam for the day and the simhavahanam of gold standing with the claws stretched out was amazing to behold. The long black teeth and black eyes enhanced the looks and called for a second look. At His Feet sat two children (reminding us of Prahladha the greatest devotee) for whom The lion is the king of the jungle and its majesty is palpable in everything it does from its yawn to its gait. No wonder that Varada simham chooses Simha vahanam as the first carrier during Bramhotsavam. As He started on His purappadu flanked by the bhattar swamis waving chamarams the divyaprabhandham goshti preceeded Him and the Veda prabhandha goshti followed Him. Devotees ran along enjoying the beautiful darshan of their Lord wearing flowing thick garlands and coming so close to them. He seemed to be saying ‘Do not move away from Me sighting My ‘Paratvam,’ I am here to mingle with you “.
