The Day 1 Pavithrotsavam was grandly celebrated at Sri Prahaladavardan Temple, Lower Ahobilam. On 27th October 2015, in the morning Homam was conducted at Yagasalai. Later in the evening at 6.30pm, Perumal along with Ubhaya Nachiyars had Thiruveethi Purappadu in the presence of H.H 46th Srimath Azhagiyasingar, Srivan Sathakopa Sri Ranganatha Yathindra Maha Desikan followed by asthanam. Many devotees participated and had the blessings of Srimath Azhagiyasingar and Divya Dampathis. Annual Pavitrotsavams are purificatory rituals recommended by Aagamas to expiate the commissions and the omissions associated with daily worship (Aaraadhanam) of the Lord at His consecrated temples. Lapses in the performance of the Aaraadhanam are recognized and a detailed ceremony consisting of homam in front of the Utsava Moorty at a specailly constructed yaaga saala. Pavitrotsavam is a well prescribed ritual , where the archaka prays for forgiveness for all lapses–conscious or otherwise– in the daily worship of the Lord .
