Swami Desikan Thirunakshatra utsavam and avabratha Thula Snanam at the Cauvery river was celebrated grandly at Sathyagalam Sri Varadharajar perumal temple, near Mysore on November 1st 2015. When Srirangam was being attacked by Muslims, Swami Desikan moved along the Kaveri river and settled down at Sathyagalam for almost 12 years. Swami Desikan has written several books during his stay here.
The Utsava Murthy of Sri Vedantha Desikar was taken in procession to the river accompanied by HH Sri Abhinava Vaageesha Brahmatanthra Swatanthra Parakala Mutt Jeeyar, for the holy snaanam and celebrations.
After returning back to the temple, Swami Desikan had malai mariyadhai from Sri Perundevi Thayar, Varadaraja Perumal and Parakala Mutt Sri Hayagreeva Perumal (which was the Aradhana moorthy of Swami Desikan during His period).
Sathyagalam is about 125 kms from Bangalore on Kollegal route. After reaching maddur on the Bangalore Mysore highway, take a left turn towards Kollegal when travelling from Bangalore. Swami Desikan in this temple is found in Ninra Thirukolam (standing posture) as compared to other temples where he is in sitting posture. It is said that he was standing and curiously looking at Srirangam to check if everything is set right for him to return. Swami Desikan is standing on Kooramsanam that was formed naturally for Swami’s daily anusthtanam.
