Dhavanotsavam was celebrated in a grand manner at Thiruvallikeni Sri Parthasarathy Swamy Temple. On March 18th 2016, in the morning Sri Perumal along with His Consorts had beautiful alangaram followed by Thiruveethi Purappadu to Dhavana Mandapam and Dhavanotsavam was performed. Later in the evening Thiruveethi Purappadu took place back to temple followed by asthanam. Grand satrumurai and sevakalam took place with arulicheyal and veda parayana ghosti. Many devotees participated in the Dhavanotsavam and received the blessings of Divyadampathis. Dhavanam is a fragrant herb which is good for health if we smell it. Dhavana Utsavam means Sri Perumal adorned with Dhavana Maalai and goes for Thiruveethi Purappadu. So in the Tamil months of Maasi/Panguni we have ‘Dhavana utsavams’ at temples.
