20th March 2016 (Panguni Ayilyam) was the fourth day celebrations of Panguni Utthiram Utsavam at Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal koil. Devotees visiting Kanchipuram had darshan of Varadan, His Consorts and Malayala Nachiyar at ‘kanadi-arai’ and felt blessed.
In the evening purappadu took place on Sannidhi Street and during ‘Tirumbukaal’ (return) the arulichezhal goshti rendered Andal’s ‘varanamayiram’. As the chanting was done along the street our prayers was for Srivaishnava boys and girls to get married within our community and bear satwik children to carry on our sampradayam.
Perumal and Malayala Nachiyar had their hair styled in ‘kodali mudichu’ with kanakambaram flowers encircling the knot. Perumal had His favorite peacock feather and dazzled in gems and jewels with not an inch of His vastram showing. Ubhayanachimars had thick waist ornaments and their green vastram peeped at some places. As a contrast Malayala Nachimar’s broad meroon border was prominent and the green showed in some places. Jewels were prominent but minimum and the double stranded pearls stood out. After swinging at the entrance of the beautifully carved hundred pillared mandapam Tiruaradhanam took place. This was followed by stotras and chants and offering of Tulasi. The Thathachariar swamis who do the chants do ‘alavatta kainkaryam’. The care with which the fanning is done to Perumal and Nachiyar takes us back in time to the days of Tirukacchi nambi who came all the way from Poondamalli to fan Varada. He even spoke with Varada. Varada is real even today for the residents of Kanchi who will not miss any event and will follow their Varada wherever He goes. After ‘padiyetram’ at the mandapam Perumal and Malayala Nachimar proceed towards Tondaradipodi. Devotees rush to view them in the mirror and enjoy the sight of Them under the white umbrellas. Incidentally today as the procession was leaving a pigeon sat on the umbrella at swami Desikan sannidhi and was enjoying a ride. Since it did not fly away it was realised that its feet was probably stuck so before getting out of the temple the pigeon was released. After ghata harathi and karpoora harathi They went back to kanadi-arai as devotees had a last glimpse of Them for the day and went home with happy thoughts looking forward for the next day celebrations.

Dhanyosmi, Sri Perarulalan & Sri Malyaiyalum Natchiyar Divya Darshan. Why Anudhinam never upload photos of Prabandha Goshti,is it because the Adhyabhagam Ghoshti consist of people mostly from Thenacharya Sampradhayam. No offence is meant, with due respect, just a doubt
