Durmukhi Chitrai Revathi and Chitrai Asvini (5/5/2016 and 6/5/2016 ) were the 5th and 6th days of Bhaghavadh Bashyakarar’s Tirunakshatra mahotsavam at Kanchi Sri Varadaraja Perumal koil.
On Thursday the 5th of May Bhaghavadh Bashyakarar in beautiful ‘Topaharam’ (tiny pearls stitched on a blue velvet crown) blessed devotees assembled in full strength to listen to Padmashree Kadri Gopalnath on the saxophone. Everyone was enthralled by the spontaneous notes of the meastro accompanied by Smt Kanyakumari on the violin. The familiar songs were played with gusto and became masterpieces. It was with reluctance that the parayanaswamis left to do their daily vedaparayanam. It was Varadan’s present to his kainkaryaparas who relaxed in the presence of Lokaguru and enjoyed the music .
On Friday the 6th of May Bhaghavadh Bashyakarar caught everone’s attention in his pink turban pinned with head ornaments like chandran, suryan, netthichutti and other gem studded ornaments. The alankaram at the back was tastefully done and caught our attention. The ‘aaru vaarthai malai’ was prominently displayed. The artiste of the day was Mysore Chandan Kumar the grandson of Mysore Chowdaiah. The songs were familiar but were handed deftly and ended with the all time favourite’ Bhagyadha Lakshmi’.
