A short writeup about His Poorvaashramam:
His Poorvaashramam thirunaamam was Sri D. Rajagopalachariar and was appointed as the ninth Jeer of the Ashramam on January 30th 2012. He is a great scholar in Sanskrit, Tamil and Hindi. He is an ardent follower of the eighth Jeer of the Ashramam, Paravakottai Gopala Desika Mahadesikan Swamigal. Swami was born on April 27, 1931 in Vaduvur village in Thanjavur district.
Sri Swami, popularly known as ‘Royapuram Swami,’ started learning Sanskrit in KRM Estate Patasala in Mannargudi. After four years of training, he joined the Raja Veda Dharma Patasala in Kumbakonam for advanced study in Sanskrit. He later joined the Madras Sanskrit College in Mylapore and graduated as ‘Sahitya Siromani’.
During this period, he also learnt Hindi and qualified in the Visharadh examination. He also passed the Tamil Vidwan course.
Swami has served as Tamil teacher for ten years in Sethupathi High School, Madurai. Later he shifted to New Delhi to serve as a Tamil teacher in New Delhi Tamil School in His Pooravasharam
During his stay there, Sri Swami was conferred the titles “Sahithya Ratna” from Haridwar Ashrama Swami, “Vidyabhooshana” from Gujarat Vidyapeet and “Ramayana Kathabivarshaka” from Harinagar Tamil Association.
After serving in New Delhi for 30 years, he came to Srirangam and had his Grantha Chathustaya Kalakshepam under the Holy Feet of Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan of Srimad Poundarikapuram Swami Asramam.
Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan was pleased with his services and gave him an opportunity for ‘Bhikshai kainkaryam and also conferred the title “Acharya Seva Durandhara” on Sri Swami. He had the honour of doing kainkaryam in the Thiruneermalai Asramam and Bangalore Asramam for some time.
He has authored the books, “Thulasidasarum avar tham arulvaakkum”; “Thiruppavai – Godastuthi” ; “Sudarsana Satakam – Commentary”.
He had participated in the Vidwat Sadas conducted under the auspices of the Ashramam. He had assisted Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan in the publications of the Asramam like Srimad Rahasyatrayasaram, Chillarai Rahasyangal and Ramapiranai Karpom.

A scholar of exemplary penetration into philosophical subtleties. As a teacher he was unique. I had come to know him personally during my long stint of service in the capital. Very gentle in his approach . His humility was touching and moved the hearts of people who came close to him. Only in February last we had an audience with him for some time. Despite his health, he was scintillating in his comments. A great loss indeed.

Bangalore Shishyas have been blessed to have been with Acharyan in Bangalore for nearly ten days. Many Shishyas had Pancha Samskaram and Prabhadhi during his mangalasasanam and also many devotees had ponadi in their houses. I am very fortunate to be blessed with Acharyan’s presence in my factory also, which is my almost Bhagyam. What else do we need in life?

Fondly called Dr. Sir in New Delhi days. He was fond of teaching young children for doing daily parayana shlokas. I was one of them who attended his classes for many years. Blessed are those who learnt from him in New Delhi days.
I had the pleasure of the acquiantance of Sri Raghuveera Maha Desikan in his poorvastram. We met during our visits to my Acharyan Paravakottai Aandavan. A scholar who never exhibited his knowledge, was humble and devoted to Paravakottai Aandavan. He took charge of Tiruneermalai Aandavan Ashramam during construction and was instrumental for its proper construction. His elder brother late Sri. Vu.ve Varadan swamigal was also a scholar who worked in Beneras University and later settled in Delhi. Aandavan swamigal was very strict in his anushtanams. It is a loss to all our sishyas of Poundarika Aashramam.
Aandavan swmigal now joined Paravakottai Aandavan in Vaikundam doing nitya kainkaryam to Lord Sriman Narayana

ONE GENTLEMEN WITH SUPPORT OF SRI.SOURI IYENGAR OF SRIRANGAM….HUMILIATED AND USED VERY ABUSES LANGUGES ON MR.SRINIVASAN, WHO IS THE ANUDIAM PHOTOGRAPHER AND REPORTER…WHO IS COVERING THE FUNCTIONS/RITUALS AT ASHRAMAM…AS PER HIM, HE HAD BEEN CALLED BY ASRAMA MANAGER FROM BANGALORE TO COVER THIS….BUT, WHEN, ONE GROUP OF SO CALLED SRI VAISHNAVAS…STARTED BLASTING HIM WITH GREAT HUMILIATION…EVEN, THEY HAVE THREATENED HIM TO SNATCH THE CAMERA AND BREAK EVERYTHING…IF HE IS NOT DELETING ALL SNAPS HE TOOK…FINALLY, HE THROWN AWAY THE ROLL IN FRONT OF THEM…AFTER THAT ONLY…HE ALLOWED TO LEAVE WITH THRETENING NO SNAPS SHOULD BE TAKEN….IF HE WANT, HE CAN GO AND TAKE HIS WIFE AND PUBLISH…IF HE CAN….
HE TOTALLY FRIGHTENED AND CRIED AND ALSO….ANUDINAM DOING THE SEVAN WITHOUT ANY COST BASIS PURELY WITH SINCERE AND GOOD INTENTION TO SHARE WITH SRI VAISHNAVAS….BUT, THESE PUPIL HARASSED ME AND ALSO ABUSED THE ANUDIANAM IN SUCH A MNNER..HE NEVER HAD A SUCH BAD EXPERIENCE PREVOUSLY IN ANY OF ASRAMAM OR MUTT…EVEN, BEFORE THIS, POUDRIPURAMA ASHRAMAMAM TOO….THAT ANDAWAN SO POND ON HIM…HE USE TO CALL HIM PERSONALLY TO COVER ALL THE RITUALS AND BLESS HIM WITH BALAMANTRA AKSHADAI…..

‘Ashramame, Quo Vadis?’
adiyen is blessed to have been swAmy’s neighbour and shishyai in his PoorvAshrama days. A very great scholar ( in Tamiz, Sanskrit and Hindi) , he who would readily help me out with clarifications regarding pAsurams from AnDAL’s TiruppAvai and guide me to present them with richness of the poetry along with the musicality. DR Sir ( as he was known in his poorvAshrama days) was having an organisation called ‘SriRangaSri Vidya Samiti’ , in Harinagar, Delhi, in which he would conduct a TiruppAvai utsavam every mArgazhi month. And, adiyen had the bhAgyam of singing all the 30 pAsurams in a kucheri format, every year for about 6-7 years . He also conducted Sampradayic classes for gents , teaching sandhyAvandam mantrams , Tiru ArAdhanam krama etc , stotra paadams for ladies and children. The above , were among several other upanyAsams which he himself did during RAmanavami utsavam etc. His contributions during his poorvAshrama days to all those who benefitted , has sowed the seeds for their growth spiritually and sAmpradAically. A true mArgadarshi! AchAryan tiruvadigaLe CharaNam.🙏🙏.

DR Sir ( as swAmy was known during his poorvAshrama days) was a great scholar in Tamiz, Sanskrit, and Hindi. He was having an organisation known as *SriRangaSri Vidya Samiti* ( in Harinagar, New Delhi in his poorvAshrama days), for promoting SAmpradAic vishayams. And ,adiyen was asked by swAmy himself to present TiruppAvai ( all 30) in a concert format every year for his organisation. He also conducted classes to teach SandhyAvandhana mantrams , ArAdhana kramams etc for men, and Stotra paadams for ladies and children. Apart from these he had periodic upanyAsam sessions , during AzhwAr tirunakshatrams, RAmanavami and other utsavams etc, where he would himself deliver elaborate upanyAsams packed with anecdotes and sadh-vishayams. For all those *Harinagar* vaasis who benefitted from this exposure , by being associated with him during the 1990s is simply divine and it has definitely sowed the seeds for their spiritual growth in the present times.
