Introduction
The temple is situated in the heart of West Mambalam in chennai is a spacious and well-maintained temple. The principal sanctum, above which is the Ashtanga Vimana, enshrines the stately image of Sri Rama, facing East. He is seen in a standing posture, holding His bow and arrow, with Sita and Lakshmana to His right and left respectively.
Temple Legend
According to the Sthala Puranam, this place is also called Dakshina Bhadrachalam (Bhadrachalam of the South). It is a well known fact that Bhadrachala Ramadas, the ardent devotee of Sri Rama and music composer of the 17th century, repaired and reconstructed the temple for Sri Rama at Bhadrachalam on the banks of the river Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, enduring great hardship, including imprisonment for twelve years, during the course of this work. In His composition named Bhadrachala Dasharathi Shatakam, he gives all the biographical details about himself, stating that his family belonged to a place called Nelakondapalli (in Andhra Pradesh) and their family name was Kancharla. This temple situated in West Mambalam, is believed to have been constructed with great devotion by a descendent of Bhadrachala Ramadas named Venkatavarada Dasar, also an ardent worshipper of Lord Rama.
Architecture
Devotees have to reach the main sanctum-sanctorum by passing through a spacious, pillared mandapa. This is where the sub-shrines for various deities like Yoga Narasimha, Lord Ranganatha, Vishvaksena, the Azhwars like Namazhwar, Kulasekara Azhwar, Tirumangai Azhwar and the Srivaishnava Acharyas like Ramanuja and Manavala Mamuniare situated. The sanctums for Goddess Lakshmi, worshipped here as Ranganayaki Thayar, Andal and Anjaneya lifting the Sanjevi Hill. The pillars of this mandapa contain beautiful sculptures of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman. There is a seperate sanctum for Sri Anjaneya in anjali pose. This deity is believed to be very powerful, fulfilling the wishes of all. The vimana above the main shrine is adroned with exquisite stucco images of Rangantha, Kalinga Narthana Krishna, Sudarsana and many others.
The large temple-tank which is situated adjacent to the temple is called Hanumanth Tirtham. The Sri Kothandaramaswamy temple, which is an abhimana sthalam of the Thiruneermalai temple, is situated  on Kodandaramar street, which can be reached turnin left off the Madley road subway. It is located near the Ahobila Muth Oriental School.
Festivals
A number of important festivals are celebrated in this temple. In the month of Chithirai, the ten day Brahmotsavam is held, with the chariot festival on the seventh day. In Vaikasi, the Vasanthotsavam is celebrated, Sri Yoga Narasimha Garuda Sevai Utsavam is the important function in Aani, In Aadi, Gajendra Moksham , Sri Ranganatha Garuda Sevai Utsavam and Thiruvadipuram are the important festivals, Sri Krishna Jayanthi is celebrated in Avani, Pavithrotsavam and Navarathiri are the special functions of Purattasi, Deepavali is celebrated in Aippasi, Thirukarthigai Deepam in Karthigai, In Margazhi Thiruppavai Utsavam, Vaikunta Ekadasi and Hanumanth Jayanthi are celebrated, In Thai, Sri Andal Thirukalyana Utsavam, In Masi, Masi Magam and Sri Ramar Garuda Sevai Utsavam, in Panguni, Sri Rama Navami Utsavam, Panguni Uthiram and Sri Thayar Thirukalyana Utsavam are the special festivals.
Temple Timings
The temple is open from 7.30 am  to 10.30 am and from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
