Karthigai Festival is also called as “the Festival of Lights”. This falls in the Tamil month of Karthigai when the star Krithigai is on the ascendant which usually occurs on full moon day. On December 12th 2016, Thirukarthigai Deepa Utsavam was celebrated in a grand manner at Thiruvelukkai Sri Azhagiyasinga Perumal Temple. On this occasion, in the evening, Karthigai Deepam was lit in all the sannadhis of temple and witnessed the burning of Sokkapanai. Many devotees participated in the Utsavam and received the blessings of Divyadampathis.
