The first day of the Thirupavithrotsavam was celebrated well at Kanchipuram Sri Varadaraja Perumal Koil on September 6, 2017 (Hevilambi Avani Sadayam). Perumal adorned the beautiful colourful silk pavithrams and homam was performed. Perumal had purappadu along with Ubhaya Nachiyars in the evening. The utsavam commenced on September 4, 2017, with Ankurarpanam and Senai Mudalvar purappadu. On the following day, Thirupavithrotsavam Adivasam took place with Perumal purappadu from the Athigiri malai. Here, Thirumanjanam took place for Perumal and Ubhaya Nachiyars followed by the commencement of homam. Several astikas are seeking the blessings of Sri Perundevi Thayar and Sri Varadaraja perumal during the utsavam.
